There is some confusion regarding 911 Call Dispatch…. Carmel Cafiero files the following report on Channel 7:
Broward County’s 911 system is under fire and some cities are planning to sue. They say residents are being taxed twice for a system that doesn’t even work very well. Investigative reporter Carmel Cafiero is On the Case. Carmel on the Case – Double Trouble.
But the County Commissioners are recommending to reject the current plan to consolidate….
“A Resolution of the Broward County ‘I Board’… urging the Governing Bodies of the County’s Municipalities not to approve an MSTU to fund the communications system.”
You can read the full resolution here.
To be clear, the County is rejecting the current funding model, not the actual plan to consolidate 911 Dispatch.
So Mrs Caferio from Chanel 7 is pointing out the shortcomings in the current system, but the County Commissioners want to reject the current plan?
What does this mean for the current Hollywood Employees who work in Emergency Dispatch? Well, the talk in the halls goes something like this…. “We’re going to consolidate, but not anytime soon. Maybe next year sometime.”
We’ll do our best to keep everyone up to date as new information is available. Watch, or attend, the Commission Meeting on April 17th because Mrs. Swanson-Rivenbark will give a presentation on this very subject.
