Join us at the Hall tonight! All members are encouraged to take part!
It’s your Union, this is your chance to nominate who you want in charge!
Yes, today is election day. You did vote today, didn’t you? You did? Good!
But that is not what we’re writing about today. Today we’re writing about the upcoming Local 2432 Elections. It’s that time of year again, the time of year when you, the members of Local 2432, choose who is in charge.
This year the Nominations will take place at a Special Meeting on November 18 beginning at 5:30 pm and ending promptly at 7:30 pm.
The positions available are:
President – Any Member with more than one year of continuous membership in the Union is eligible to run for this position.
Treasurer – Any Member with more than one year of continuous membership in the Union is eligible to run for this position.
Secretary – Any Member with more than one year of continuous membership in the Union is eligible to run for this position. This position is only for one year to bring the position back in line with the Local Constitution.
Executive Board, General – Any Member represented by the General Contract with more than one year of continuous membership in the Union is eligible to run for this position.
Executive Board, Supervisory – Any Member represented by the Supervisory Contract with more than one year of continuous membership in the Union is eligible to run for this position.
Communication is important!
Members being able to communicate with each other is even more so.
In support of the idea that Communication is important we now have a Virtual Union Hall.
This does not replace the real and physical Union Hall, meeting face to face is still the absolute best method of communications. Meeting face to face, however, is not always an option for when you need to ask someone something or share some bit of information. And we can’t forget that the City is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation. Sometimes you just can’t get together because you are on opposite sides of the clock, or week, or City.
Click the link above, add it to your book marks or favorites, and join us in the Virtual World until we can get together in the real world.
Basic Instructions on how to register in the system are below:
In the top area under the logo is the Registration Link.
Standard Terms and Conditions are next, read them and click I Agree (if you actually do agree).
Please register with your real name, or at least something like your real name. The moderators are not going to know you are a member if you register as sillyman423.
Once you have completed the registration you can begin posting in the Public Forums. Within about 24 hours the moderators will confirm your member status and apply the right access level to your account.
One of the biggest hurdles to overcome as a Union is Communication. We have over 700 people scattered over 28 different office locations, shift workers covering all 24 hours on the clock, and field workers covering all 31 square miles of our City…. sharing information in a timely manner is, to put it mildly, a challenge.
We are rising to that challenge!
Your Executive Board and your Communication Committee are using every channel of communication available to make sure that you, the members of Local 2432, have access to the most up to date information when you need it, where, and how.
This website was the first step. The current display is ‘adaptive’ and should be readable on both your desktop or your mobile device. Up to the top is the navigation menu, down to the bottom are the options and settings and fiddly-bits.
Email Notices and Email Newsletters was the next step. Approximately once a month you should receive an email digest of the news articles from this website, if you signed up that is. Scroll down there to the bottom and put your email into the Join Our Newsletter box. Like we said, about once a month you will receive an email digest, and if something interesting or exciting is happening we’ll send a specific email notice with the required information.
In our ongoing attempts to make our Local better for our members we are putting a Membership Committee together. The basic duties of the Committee are simple, reaching out to Members both new and old.
If any of you would like to join the Committee they are meeting tonight at the Union Hall.
