This election will be pivotal in determining the City’s direction. As employees and residents, we’ve seen some of our best services outsourced (Sanitation, 911) and many City positions left unfilled. We’re doing more with less and as a Union, we’ve come to the table to try and bridge the gap with City management. Unfortunately, we are still a scapegoat and target during budget season.
We have interviewed the candidates and AFSCME Local 2432 proudly endorses:
MAYOR – ELEANOR SOBEL
DISTRICT 1 – VICTOR DEBIANCHI, JR.
DISTRICT 2 – PETER HERNANDEZ
DISTRICT 4 – BARRY FASKE
The members of Local 2432 made a difference in 2012 and we need to do it again this election. Visit the candidates’ websites to learn more and to volunteer. We need to be a part of the solution and get people elected who will support the workers of Hollywood.
Come out for a day of food and fun on Saturday, October 8th @ TY Park – Pavilion 12 from noon – 4 PM. We appreciate the hard work and contribution of our members and look forward to a day of play for us and our families (immediate family please). Feel free to bring a game ball as there’s plenty of open field space near the pavilion. We’ll also have a bounce house and face painting for the kids and food from Scruby’s BBQ!
If you plan to come out, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and how many people you’ll be bringing by this Friday, September 30th . Hope to see you there!
“Where’s the contract?”
Indeed…. where is the contract?
The back and forth of the process of ‘finalizing’ the contract is stalled on the City’s side for the moment. Now that the holidays have passed the process should be back on track, at least that is what we are being told.
There are still some things to schedule, and still some things to review, but the tentative plan is to have the contract ready for review later this week, the ratification vote by the members in about two weeks, and the ratification vote by the Commission and Pension Board by the end of the month.
We’ll update everyone as we get more information here and through the Stewards.
Welcome to the new website for Local 2432.
Look around and tell us what you think. What do we need to add? Subtract? Change?
