Union Officer Update, Officer Elections Tomorrow, Contract Update

Succession

The AFSCME Local 2432 Executive Board held a Special Meeting to address succession in light of President Christopher Cassidy’s retirement. Per the AFSCME Local 2432 Constitution, the Vice-President fills the remaining term as President and the Secretary fills the term as Vice-President

Bogdan (Boki) Corsovic has accepted the position as President.

Siana Lakhan has accepted the position as Vice-President.

The position of Secretary will now be filled by Agne Treckione since Siana Lakhan has accepted the Vice-President position.


Officer Elections

Brothers Daniel Chamblin and Joseph Schroeder have withdrawn their candidacies for Trustee. Therefore, members will be voting for the following candidates tomorrow:

Executive Board General – 2 year term –
Ameer Khan
Chris Roper

Trustee – 3 year term –
Chris Manning
David Blum
John Weitzner

Elections for Executive Board General and Trustee will be held tomorrow, December 7, 2021 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Union Hall. This is a Union Member only vote. Please bring ID to vote.


Contract Update

The City Commission approved the ratified contracts at the December 1st Commission meeting and the raises are now being processed by HR Payroll.

Contract Ratification Vote, Tuesday, November 16th, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

UPCOMING CONTRACT RATIFICATION VOTE
Tuesday, November 16, 2021
A ratification vote for new General, Professional, and Supervisory contracts will be held on next Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Union Hall – 2734 Hollywood Boulevard (parking in the rear). This is a secret ballot vote and the ballots will be counted immediately after the closing of the vote. Below is the bargained contract information; please review prior to casting your vote:

Summary of items being proposed for ratification:
2% COLA on the base salary
1% one time Lump Sum on the base salary to be issued via a separate payroll check.
HRA Card amount Increases beginning 1 Jan 2022 as follows.
Employee only = $300 to $400
Employee + 1 = $400 to $600
Employee + 2 or more = $700 to $1000
Increased mental wellness counseling sessions (EAP) from 6 sessions to 10 sessions at no additional cost.

Changes to health care premiums as follows:
OAPIN PLAN:
·       Employee only = no change
·       Employee + 1 = increase of $2.82 per pay period
·       Employee + 2 or more = $6.20 per pay period
OAP PLAN:
·       Employee only = increase of $6.29 per pay period
·       Employee + 1 = $12.59 per pay period
·       Employee + 2 or more = $20.14 per pay period.

Union Officer Nominations and Elections

Nominations for Union Officer positions will take place at a Special Meeting on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 6:30 PM at the Union Hall. Nominations will close after 3 calls have been made for each position. Elections will be held on December 1, 2020 (see flyer). Any member with more than one (1) year of active membership is eligible to be nominated. You will also receive this notice vis U.S. mail.


Per AFSCME Constitution, voting must be conducted face-to-face. Due to social distancing requirements, the meeting will be held right outside the Union Hall due to COVID-19 and all employees coming to vote must wear a face mask.

Vacant Union Officer Positions & Holiday Party Pictures

Vacant Trustee and Treasurer Positions

The election of Trustee John Berak to the Vice-President position on the Executive Board created a vacancy in the Trustee position. Also, Treasurer Rafael Quintero’s retirement created a vacancy in the Treasurer position. Per the Union Constitution, the Union Executive Board nominates and elects members to fill vacancies for these positions during unexpired terms.

At the January 7th E-Board meeting, Sister Barbara Armand was nominated and elected to fill the vacant Treasurer position. Also, the members below were nominated to fill the vacant Trustee position:

  • Ameer Khan
  • Travis Morancie
  • David Blum

The Executive Board elected Travis Morancie to fill the vacant Trustee position. Congrats to Barbara and Travis and thanks to all who were considered.

Union Officer Nomination and Elections Tomorrow / Holiday Party RSVP

Reminder – Nominations for Union Officer positions will take place at a Special Meeting tomorrow, November 12, 2019 at 6:30 PM at the Union Hall. Nominations will close promptly at 8:00 PM.  Elections will be held on December 3, 2019 (see flyer). Any member with more than one (1) year of active membership is eligible to be nominated.  Member election notices are being sent in the mail.

The Member Holiday Party will be held on Saturday, December 14th from 7:00 – 11:00 PM at Tropical Acres.  Seating is limited, so RSVP is first come first serve.  Limit one (1) guest per member.  Email your full name and guest info to rsvp@local2432.com by Friday, December 6th to be added to the guest list which will be checked at the door.  Non-member employees are prohibited. No exceptions!

 

Contract Ratification Vote – Results!

The vote to ratify all three AFSCME contracts passed overwhelmingly and is headed to the City Commission for a vote on next Wednesday, June 19th. Thanks to all who’ve worked hard during this process and to everyone who came out for the vote today.

We need our members to turnout for next Wednesday’s Commission meeting at 2:00 PM in your AFSCME green. Thanks again to our members for your continued support and see you next week at the Commission meeting!
